Service Award Recipient

Jay and Arlene Shiner have lived in Bergenfield for the past 18 years. They are proud parents to three Yavneh graduates, Julie (20), Daniel (20), and Benji (23). 

Jay is a Director in the Chief Finance Strategy Office at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group. He manages strategic programs across the international bank. Arlene is a Recruitment Team Manager with Planet Pharma. She leads a team of recruiters and provides staffing to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries. 

Jay has been the Yavneh Treasurer for the past 5 years. He has been a member of the Board of Directors for 7 years. Jay was a founder of Gan Yavneh and served on multiple committees including dinner committees and nominations committees. 

Arlene was a Vice President of the YPAA. She prepared the directories and calendars for 7 years. She assisted with YPAA membership and volunteered for many YPAA events. 

Beyond Yavneh, the Shiners are also involved in their shul, Keter Torah. Jay is currently on the Advisory Board and he has been volunteering as part of CSS for 10 years. Arlene has spent many years on the shul sisterhood and also served as president. Outside of Yavneh and Keter Torah, Jay served on the Bergenfield Library Board of Trustees for 5 years.  

Jay and Arlene enjoy exercise and can often be seen taking walks or running together around town.   

The Shiners have enjoyed being a part of the Yavneh family and appreciate the growth it has brought to their whole family educationally, socially, and religiously.
